What has happened to Belfree
We have been very quiet for a few months now as at the beginning of 2016 we recognised we had a case production issue as it was taking 4 hours to produce each sensor case using current 3D printing methods, On top of this was the build time for the electronics.
After a large number of trials (currently version 20+) and errors including looking at external manufacture for the case we have now arrived at a completely different approach and reduced case production time to a much better level. On top of this the whole unit is stronger and better manufactured.
Having solved this we were then faced with the news that the generic printed circuit board (pcb) we were using had been declared obsolete and would no longer be produced or supported. This was a huge blow, but after a lot of work in the last few months to source an alternative we have taken the decision to design our own bespoke pcb which is now being manufactured in the UK. This new pcb design also makes the assembly much easier and quicker and add to the reliability of the sensors. Once we have fully tested the prototype and refactored our microcode we will be in a position to start full sensor testing and then start manufacture. We are delighted to say that the costs will remain the same.
We would like to apologise for the lack of communication but hope you understand our difficult position, and will like our final product which out of necessity has evolved and improved considerably over this last 6 months.
All being well we should be able to start manufacture once our testing is complete on this latest version and start to ship orders shortly after that, please watch out on our new website for progress but we will be definitely shipping as soon as we possibly can.
